Aftercare Tips

Recommended products

I always recommend using professional haircare products, not only will these products protect the colour of your wig but will also keep the hair in fantastic condition. Go for products which are sulphate free!

Washing your wig

You don’t need to do it as often as your biological hair, as it strips away the moisture from the hair, usually once a month is plenty but only do so if you have excess product build up from hairspray/ oil/ make-up on the lace.

Wash only using warm water and sulphate free shampoo & conditioner. (It’s recommended to only use conditioner and a little bit of shampoo only when wig is very dirty)

Add a small amount of good quality hair oil to damp hair after wash, as well as a heat protectant.

*Always treat your wig with care. Avoid excessive tugging, pulling, or brushing. Handle the wig gently to prevent excess shedding. Be especially careful around the lace edge, as this is extremely delicate.*

Other tips

  • Comb & brush carefully! Use a wide-toothed comb or a soft bristle brush. Start from the tips and work your way up to the roots, detangling any knots gently to avoid breakage.

  • Minimise the use of heat styling tools, as excessive heat can fade the colour and weaken /dry the hair. If heat styling is necessary, use a heat protectant spray and low heat settings.

  • Ideally, store your wig in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight as it can cause the colour to fade. Use a wig stand or a mannequin head to help maintain its shape and prevent tangling.
